Hello gardeners! We hope your winter planning season went well. (you have been planning your spring garden, haven’t you?) More now than ever, it is important for you to be food independent, and as a result we’ll have a bumper supply of seedlings available.  Please call for availability though as weather during the next few weeks may affect the supply. Sweet Peppers 

Bell pepper, also known as sweet pepper, is a cultivar group of the species Capsicum annuum.Cultivars of the plant produce fruits in different colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, chocolate/brown, vanilla/white, and purple. Bell peppers are sometimes grouped with less pungent pepper varieties as “sweet peppers”. Peppers are native to Mexico, Central America and northern South America. Pepper seeds were later carried to Spain in 1493 and from there spread to other European, African and Asian countries. Today, China is the world’s largest pepper producer, followed by Mexico and Indonesia.

Ideal growing conditions for bell peppers include warm soil, ideally 21 to 29 °C (70 to 84 °F), that is kept moist but not waterlogged. Bell peppers are sensitive to an abundance of moisture and excessive temperatures.

Sweet Banana

Named for its banana-like shape, this variety bears sweet, mild peppers that mature from yellow, to orange, and then to crimson red. Plants fruit prolifically, easily producing up to 25 to 30 pods per plant. This pepper is great for frying, pickling, and is an excellent choice to make pepper rings for sandwiches. Great for containers. Days to maturity: 75

Mad Hatter

Mad Hatter is a member of the Capsicum baccatum pepper species from South America commonly used in Bolivian and Peruvian cuisine. You can impress your friends by growing this pepper and showing off the novel three-sided shape and deliciously sweet taste. The taste has a refreshing, citrusy floral flavor that remains sweet, only occasionally expressing mild heat near the seeds. Days to maturity: 65 to 70 days after planting (green), 85 to 90 days (red)
