Cucumber
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is a widely cultivated plant in the gourd family Cucurbitaceae. It is a creeping vine that bears cylindrical fruits that are used as culinary vegetables. There are three main varieties of cucumber: slicing, pickling, and burpless. Within these varieties, several different cultivars have emerged. The cucumber is originally from Southern Asia, but now grows on most continents. Many different varieties are traded on the global market.
Pickling
Our pickling cucumber is an F1 hybrid, Fancy Pack: A high-yielding, early variety for salads and pickling. Medium green fruits bear early, and set heavily on short, space-saving vines. Fertilize well and pick frequently at a small size to maintain good color and fruit shape. Days to maturity: 55
Slicing
Dasher F1 hybrid: Early producing plant produces high yields of 8 ½” long by 2 ½” wide straight dark green cucumbers. A quality slicing variety best grown on a fence or trellis for easy harvest. Disease Resistant, Days to maturity: 58
